Welcome

Destiny Garden School is  founded by Jacob Boaz Muoga and provides education for 180 children from the age of 2½ to 13 years in Mtongwe, Likoni Division, one of the poorest suburbs of Mombasa on Kenya's coast.  Not only does providing these children with education improve their future but it also keeps them off the streets where they could become involved in gang culture, drugs and prostitution. 

Most families of the children will earn around $3US per day and most struggle to find regular work in an area where jobs are scarce. It is not uncommon for families to go without food for the day.  The school provides the children with a snack mid morning and a full meal at lunch - sometimes their only meal of the day.

Visions for the future

• Destiny Garden School has seven rented classrooms and money is being raised for the construction of more.
• Dormitories for accommodating the orphans and poor children on the school premises.
• More desks and equipment for education and sport as well as toys for the nursery classes.
• A minibus to take the children on trips as many have not been outside the slum area.  This will also be used for volunteers.
• A garden to grow fruit and vegetables so that the children can have fresh food.
• A nurse's room for giving vaccinations and HIV treatment.

Ways you can help

• Volunteer:  Jacob and his family will host volunteers who can stay from one week to six months.  Please click on the Volunteer link for more information.

• Sponsor a child:  You can sponsor a child for as little as £10 / $20US / $30 Aus per month. ALL the money received for a child goes towards their education and food.
